About
Bio/Description

Ajay Nagpure is an Associate Professional Specialist (Urban System Scientist) at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Princeton University. His research focuses on identifying infrastructural and environmental footprints (Air Pollution, Greenhouse Gases, and Health) at the microscale for better awareness of environmental problems and efficient implementation of mitigation strategies on the ground.  Before joining Princeton University, Ajay worked as Program Director, Air Quality at World Resources Institute India. He has developed Clean Air Action Plans for Indian cities and established guidelines for the effective implementation of clean air action on the ground in Indian cities. Ajay has developed methods for estimating activities and environmental footprints of Municipal Solid Waste, Transportation, Household energy use, and Construction sectors in his past research work. These approaches help cities, practitioners, and researchers discover the gaps in infrastructure management systems. It also helps to understand the infrastructure and environmental disparities, mitigation strategies, and solution opportunities at the intra-city scale. In summary, Ajay’s research mainly focuses on detailed analysis of urban infrastructure sectors and footprints, facilitating understanding of on-the-ground challenges, opportunities, and efficient policy formulation, as well as their effective implementation. Ajay holds a Ph.D. from the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee, and has more than ten years of post-Ph.D. experience in sustainable urban infrastructure systems research.
