Julia Jongejeugd is a senior in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Princeton University, pursuing a minor in Architecture and Engineering. Outside of academics she is a heptathlete on the Princeton Women’s Track and Field Team. Her senior thesis explores the possibility of using high-resolution satellite imagery combined with Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) to provide accurate and scalable tree canopy maps for rapidly urbanizing cities in the Global South.
